The Daredevil

You act first and think on the move. You like speed and situations where something real is at stake, and a meeting that runs long makes you fidget.

You trust what you can see and touch over abstract theories, and you say what you think without softening it. Rules feel like suggestions to you when they slow you down.

The two variants

Calm variant: lower emotional sensitivity

Danger makes you focused rather than nervous, which is why you enjoy what others avoid.

Intense variant: higher emotional sensitivity

Your temper is quick and so is your regret: a heated moment leaves you uneasy for the rest of the day.

Where this profile shines

Action under pressure

When something needs doing right now, you are already doing it while others are still discussing.

Straightforward

You tell people what you want and what you will not accept, so nobody has to guess.

What this profile should watch for

Acting before checking

You may take a risk or make a promise on impulse and find out the cost only afterwards.

The Daredevil scores below the median on Openness, Conscientiousness and Agreeableness and above it on Extraversion. In plain words, you trust the concrete, you decide in the moment, you put your own view first, and you are at your best around people and action. "The Daredevil" is our short name for that pattern of four scores relative to the median, not a type found in research; the methodology explains how the line is drawn.

How the four traits combine

Extraversion supplies the energy and the other three remove the brakes. Low Conscientiousness skips the planning, low Agreeableness skips the diplomacy and low Openness skips the theory, which leaves a person who is quick to start, quick to say what is on their mind and unbothered by awkwardness. In a fast or high-stakes setting this is an advantage, because hesitation is what goes wrong there.

The tension is between your appetite for stimulation and your appetite for consequences. The traits that make you decisive in an emergency make a dull stretch feel unbearable, and boredom is when you tend to spend money you do not have or start an argument you do not need. Friends enjoy the energy and learn that you keep only the commitments that interest you.

Calm or intense

Neuroticism separates two different Daredevils. With a low score, danger is fuel and the next day is forgotten. With a high one, the bluntness is followed by regret that you rarely mention and rarely repair in words.

Near the middle

If your Conscientiousness score is close to the median, you resemble The Captain, who has the same drive and directness with a plan behind it. If Agreeableness is the close one, The Host is nearby, with the same sociability and more concern for how people feel. A score near the middle on Openness brings you toward The Maverick, who is just as bold but curious about the unconventional.
